Arne Slot acknowledged that it's expected for concerns to be raised about his position following a further heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.
The Reds suffered their 9th defeat in twelve games, marking the team's poorest run since being relegated in 1953-54.
They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing night at Anfield.
“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I've received significant backing from above,” Slot commented.
“It's important to reverse this trend and get a victory obviously but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it's typical that doubts arise.”
He added, “I am OK with my role. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it's necessary that we turned it around.”
Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the team officials, Slot explained:
“We communicate frequently. They are helpful to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me all the time each day to say they trust me.”
He mentioned, “Through standard discussions I perceive the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them after this game yet so we'll see.”
Slot expressed regret over recurring failings from his team in their Champions League defeat, specifically poor finishing and defensive lapses.
Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his assessment of the team's situation.
“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder stated.
“It is not good enough. I don't have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the phrases.”
He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”
“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a period such as this with results like these.”
He concluded, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And as long as that badge is gone, we’re always going to compete.”
“Our aim is to bring this squad return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all again what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”
“However currently, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
