Assassin's Creed Unveils Unexpected AoT Crossover for Thanksgiving

In a surprising partnership that challenges traditional expectations, the game developer has unveiled an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.

Strange Mission Revealed

According to the formal release, "A strange encounter leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where rumors of banned rituals and monstrous metamorphoses resonate through the shadows." The storyline presents a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a clandestine cult.

The questline concentrates on "bizarre tests and a monstrous adversary" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Places and Changes

The preview features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer ends with a dramatic moment showing a character, probably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Rewards and Extra Features

Players who finish the mission will receive an exclusive katana alongside multiple objects hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-based attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Unique weapons
• Survey Corps mount

Newest Free Story Content

This release also introduces the game's latest free story content, titled "The Enigma." This humorous quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive abilities: Naoe introduces a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also features a original environmental puzzle that may finally clarify some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This represents not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime properties. The series earlier included a 2020 cross-promotional story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
