Iran Reports Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Counterattacks.

Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched operations across the region in retaliation for a significant and ongoing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any impact is unclear and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the government.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with notable success and shot down a number of missiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported wreckage landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and the death of one civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
