Israelis have assembled around the country to commemorate the second anniversary since the Hamas-led assault on 7 October 2023, as negotiations advanced in the neighboring country over an end to the conflict in the Gaza Strip.

Activist one woman remarked: "We must do any agreement required for the hostages to come back home. But we really want promises that we will be secure."
Surveys now regularly indicate that about the majority of the population desire the hostilities to conclude in return for the freedom of the captives.
